Russian Soldier Suspected of Murdering Medical Staff in Izyum

Investigators in the Kharkiv region reported in absentia the suspicion of the violation of the laws and customs of war in combination with intentional murder (Part 2 of article 438 of the criminal code) to Russian sergeant Akhmed Dudue. According to the investigation, during the occupation of Izyum in May 2022, the combat vehicle commander entered the pathology department of the central city hospital, where he started speaking to the staff. During this, a forensic medical expert told the Russian that he considered the presence of the Russian military in Izyum to be illegal. Duduev began to behave aggressively, beat the forensic expert and then shot him with a machine gun.

Indictment Over Mock Execution in Irpin

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor general's office, an indictment against a serviceman of the Russian Federation for violating the laws and customs of war was sent to the court (Part 1 of Article 438 of the criminal code of Ukraine). 

The investigation found that on March 22, 2022, servicemen of 31 separate units of the assault brigade of the airborne forces of the Russian Federation were in Irpin, in the Kyiv region, on the territory of the Green Building residential complex. They were looking for supporters of Ukraine. During the inspection of a mobile phone of one women, the accused found a photo of her son, w serving in the armed forces. The accused aimed a machine gun at the woman's head and simulated shooting her in order to cause her moral and mental suffering. The name of the Russian soldier was not mentioned in the official information of the prosecutor's office. He will probably be tried in absentia.

Russian Soldier Suspected of Murder

Kharkiv police investigators reported in absentia a suspicion of violation of the laws and customs of war in combination with intentional murder (Part 2, article 438 of the criminal code) to Alexander Medelyaev, a Russian officer of the 245th Guards Motorised Rifle Regiment. According to the investigation, Medelyaev killed a civilian woman during the occupation of Izyum in June 2022. Law enforcement officers reported that the suspect was probably drunk. The killing happened when the woman approached the headquarters of the Russians in the hope of using wifi to contact her relatives.

Russian General to be Tried in Absentia

The commander of the Central Military District of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Aleksandr Lapin, will be tried in absentia at the Chernihiv district court. The announcement of the summons was published on the court's website.  Lapin headed the Russian Centre group and according to the investigation, participated in the preparation, planning, and organisation of the invasion of subordinate units into the territory of Ukraine and led a military operation to attempt to capture the territories of Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kyiv regions.

Three Convicted Russian Soldiers Exchanged

The Kolomyysk city district court of the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast satisfied the request of prosecutors and freed three convicted Russian prisoners from serving their sentences in Ukraine due to the decision to transfer them for exchange.

BM-21 Grad driver Alexander Bobykin had been ws sentenced in the Poltava region in May 2022 to 11 years and six months of imprisonment. Tankers Mikhail Kulikov and Nikolai Filatov were sentenced in Chernihiv in August 2022 to ten years in prison and up to eight years and six months imprisonmen, respectively. All of them were convicted under Part 1 of Art. 438 of the criminal code of Ukraine concerning the violation of the laws and customs of war and were serving their sentence in the Kolomyiaska correctional colony.

Preparatory Review of the Indictment of Exchanged Russian Pilot Begins

The Novozavodsk district court of Chernihiv has begun the preparatory hearing of the indictment in the case against Alexander Krasnoyartsev, thae Russian pilot who bombed Chernihiv, the court's website reports. The captured pilot was exchanged,so will be tried in absentia, he is accused of violating the laws and customs of war, combined with the intentional killing of a civilian (Part 2 of Article 438 of the criminal code of Ukraine).
