Tribunals to sit on election petitions

Election petition tribunals may commence sitting this week.

The Court of Appeal, which serves as the supervisory authority for the tribunals said the members have been constituted and will be traveling to the different states this week.

The election tribunals will listen to complaints emanating from the recent elections. The tribunals may decide to uphold the results, cancel them or order a re-run.

Some defeated candidates in the legislative and governorship elections have already indicated that they would challenge the results in court.
