Milenov, speaking at the first weekly press briefing since her appointment as the tribunal’s interim spokesperson, said the decision came after the tribunal had made a “great effort” to streamline its work. As a result, the new budget reflects negative growth compared to the budget covering the previous two years.

Milenov also said the renovation of the tribunal’s courtrooms in order to accommodate trials involving multiple accused is continuing. Courtroom two is now finished, courtroom one is still being completed, and building work on courtroom three will begin next month.

The renovations are expected to be finished in time for the trial of nine senior Serb police and army officials allegedly involved in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, which is due to begin in June this year.
