Tribal elder gunned down in Paktika

Erada is an independent daily run by the Afghan Media and Resource Centre.

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a tribal elder in the Barmal district of the south-eastern province of Paktika late on April 7. Provincial governor Ekram Khepalwak confirmed the incident, adding police have launched a manhunt but no arrest has yet been made. Barmal district is situated near the border, where terrorists often launch attacks and then flee to neighbouring Pakistan.
