Taleban boast of US chopper hit

The Taleban have claimed that they shot down a United States military helicopter in the Shah Wali Kot district of the southern province of Kandahar on December 4. Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, who claimed to be speaking for the insurgents, said Taleban members attacked the helicopter and shot it down while it was trying to take off with some soldiers on board. US forces have confirmed that two of their helicopters in the region made emergency landings on December 4. According to a Coalition forces spokesman at the Bagram airbase, one of the helicopters landed in Kandahar’s Trin Kot district, injuring one Afghan soldier, while the second made a forced landing north of Kandahar city, injuring five US servicemen.
