Syrian Media Congratulate Iran on Revolution

Syria Media Report, 13-Feb-09

Official Syrian media this week congratulated Iran on the 30th anniversary of the Islamic revolution that overthrew the Shah of Iran.

Asad Abboud, editor-in-chief of the official newspaper Al-Thawra, said the date reminded everyone that Iran continued to thrive in the face of animosity from the West. He also blamed certain Arab states for their criticism of Tehran.

Mohammad al-Khuder wrote an opinion article in the ruling party paper Al-Baath supporting his government’s record of friendship with Iran.

The state-backed Al-Watan published an article on February 5 by Iranian writer Hami Hilmi Zada who praised Islamic resistance movements in Lebanon and Gaza.
