Sweep mounted between Tikrit and Kirkuk

Brigadier Sarhad Qadir, the head of the Kirkuk police force, has announced that starting on July 19, a major military sweep operation by Iraqi army, police, and Coalition forces is combing the area between Tikrit and Kirkuk. "Dozens of terrorists have been captured in Hawija, Rashad, Ryaz and Zab, and many weapons have been confiscated," said Qadir. "The operation will continue until the area is cleared of terrorists."
