A member of the political board of the Sadrist movement, Fadhil al-Sharaa, has said the movement welcoms an initiative by the Muslim Scholars’ Association to visit Najaf and meet the Marjiya [Shia clerical establishment] to discuss current issues and to narrow the gaps between the different Iraqi communities. Al-Sharaa noted that the Sadrists and the Association share many views and have signed a number of agreements to calm the present tense situation. A spokesman for the Scholars’ Association, Abdul Salam al-Kubaisi, announced that he will head a delegation visiting Najaf on March 2February and meeting the Marjiya.
