The Sunni endowment and the Sadrist movement have urged the Iraqi people to display unity and solidarity, and called for an end to intimidation of families all over the country. After a meeting between Ahmed Abdul Ghafoor al-Samarrai and some leading members of the Sadrist movement, the Sunni endowment issued a declaration saying Iraq is enduring a great conspiracy designed to ignite conflict between the citizens of a united nation. The declaration - signed by groups of Sunnis and Shias clerics- warned that bloodletting is a loss for Iraqis and a victory for our enemies, and urged people to reject any kind of segregation and sectarianism. The declaration said Sunnis should protect Shias living in their communities and Shias should protect the Sunnis in theirs.
