Suicide bomber misses UN vehicles in Kandahar

A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden car near a convoy of United Nations demining vehicles on May 17 in the southern province of Kandahar, but caused no casualties other than himself, officials said. Purported Taleban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi accepted responsibility for the attack, claiming the attack caused heavy casualties. It was the second attack on UN staffers within a week.
