South-east Jostles for National Assembly Leadership
South eastern national legislators have again called on the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to choose the next Senate President or Speaker of the House of Representatives from the region.
They said this would be a deserving reward for the enormous backing by South Easterners for the PDP in the 2011 general elections.
43 members of the House of Representatives from the region noted in a statement that PDP got 85 percent of National assembly votes and 97 percent of presidential votes in the election.
Now that their support has paid off for the PDP, the lawmakers said any position apart from Senate president or House speaker will constitute a political insult.
