Senior Taleban figure arrested in Kandahar

Arman-e-Milli is an independent daily run by a group of journalists.

Afghan National Army troops arrested a top Taleban leader, Mullah Abdul Bari, during a sweep operation in the southern province of Kandahar on February 7. Defence ministry spokesman General Mohammad Zahir Azimi confirmed the arrest, saying the detainee, who was arrested in the Omran district, was a major figure in the Taleban leadership. According to the spokesman, Bari is under investigation by local officials.
