Friday, 20 July, 2007
Tajik minister for foreign affairs Hamrohon Zarifi announced on July 18 that Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SCO, member states will sign up to an Energy Charter during the summit in Bishkek on August 16.

The charter, which is aimed at resolving the water and energy conflicts between Central Asian states by getting them to adopt a common position, was approved by all six SCO ministers for foreign affairs during talks in Bishkek in early July.

All of the Central Asian countries except Turkmenistan are members of the SCO.
