Unidentified gunmen set fire to an intermediate-level school in the Muqur district of the central province of Ghazni on the night of April 16, officials said. Muqur district chief Abdul Rahim confirmed the incident, blaming “enemies of peace” who set the Sultan Shahabuddin school on fire at around one in the morning after tying up the janitor. Textbooks, including a few Korans, were destroyed in the blaze, said the official. The school is attended by 850 students.
