The young Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has called for universities not to engage in conflicts between political parties. In a declaration issued by his office in Najaf, Sadr said that political activities should take place outside of universities and that all Iraqis must try to show respect for the universities and never cause trouble in them. He called on professors to maintain strong relationships among themselves and said students should show respect and obey their professors, who are working hard to leading them to a brighter future.
