Sadr Calms His Followers

Al-Sabah is a daily independent publicly owned newspaper.

The young Shia cleric, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on his followers to practice self-control and avoid schemes that might start wars and (national) disasters. Sadr's announcement came after two houses in Najaf were hit by mortars, injuring two people. In a statement signed by Sadr, he called on security forces to provide protection for the visitors of Imam Ali Shrine for the commemoration of the Prophet Mohammed's death (peace be upon him). He accused the occupation forces of being behind the (Najaf attacks.)
