Four rockets were fired at a US military base in the Khugiani district of the eastern province of Nangarhar on the night of February 13, officials said. Provincial officials confirmed the rocket attack, saying that there were no casualties. Meanwhile, self-styled Taleban spokesman Qari Mohammad Hanif said his movement was responsible for the attack, and claimed that US forces suffered heavy casualties. The attack came shortly after four US troops were killed in a bomb attack in the southern province of Uruzgan on February 13.
