Three policemen were wounded in two separate explosions in the Maiwand district of the southern province of Kandahar, officials said on January 28.A senior official at the provincial police headquarters said that a police vehicle struck a remote-controlled mine in the Maiwand district, injuring three Afghan police. Meanwhile, a separate blast occurred in the area when US-led coalition forces were on their way back to Maiwand after distributing medicines in the Garmab district, but caused no casualties, the official added. However, a purported Taleban spokesman said the two blasts left five US soldiers dead and three Afghan policemen wounded, including Maiwand district police chief.
