Iraqi police in Amara province have announced that they've arrested three former high-ranking officials of the dissolved Baath party who were allegedly trying to revive the party and recruit new members. An Iraqi police source said one of the detained men had been in Syria, working with Baathists there to establish a new Baath party in Iraq. Under the new name of "The Party of the Return", the party's mission was allegedly to confront the authorities and attack the Iraqi police and army and multinational forces. During interrogation, they are said to have admitted that they had been in talks with former Baathists about re-establishing the party.
