Peshmerga Not Part of Security Plan

Al-Ittihad is published daily by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

Alliance of Kurdistan leader in the Iraqi parliament Fuad Masoom has insisted that the peshmerga would not take part in any security plan outside the Kurdistan region. Masoom added that Kurdish soldiers were included in Iraqi army brigades that will deploy in Baghdad as part of efforts to secure the city. Masoom said there was a big difference between peshmerga and Kurdish citizens who volunteer to serve as soldiers in the Iraqi defence forces.
