Pakistani Prostitutes Trafficked into Afghan Southeast

Women are being trafficked in from Pakistan to Nangarhar, a city in southeastern Afghanistan, where they engage in begging and prostitution.

The women do not come from the Pashtun population, which lives on either side of the Afghan-Pakistani border, and speak only Baluchi or Hindko.

Mahbubshah Mahbub  is an IWPR-trained radio reporter in Nangarhar, Afghanistan.

This report was produced as part of the Afghan Critical Mass Media Reporting in Uruzgan and Nangarhar project, and is also published on the Afghan Centre for Investigative Journalism website which IWPR has set up locally.
