Georgian prime minister Zurab Nogaideli is visiting Ashgabat on May 24-25 for more talks on the route that Caspian gas might take through Georgia, if plans for the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline come to fruition.

On May 23, Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Elmar Mamedyarov arrived in the Turkmen capital to discuss the contentious issue of the Caspian Sea’s status. Azerbaijan wants to divide the sea along a median line, while Turkmenistan wants the division to assign offshore oil wells in a manner that it sees as fair.
