NGOs asked to register

Cheragh is an independent daily run by the Development and Democracy Association.

Non-government organisations, NGOs, have been asked to register with the government by a December 25 deadline, the director of the office for NGOs at the ministry of economy said. He added that 250 national and 175 international NGOs have registered over the past six months. Asked to name NGOs accused of abuse of power and embezzlement, he refused to name names but said some NGOs were being prosecuted.
