Musa Encourages Iraqis to Participate in the Elections

Al-Ittihad is published daily by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

() Arab League secretary-general Amr Musa urged all political powers in Iraq to participate in the elections in order to build a new Iraq and enhance the constitutional process. He called for all military operations and violence to be halted during the elections to render the process credible and successful. Musa encouraged leaders to show their commitments to the Cairo conference resolutions (from an Arab League-sponsored meeting of several rival Iraqi factions) by not obstructing the political process. He said the United Nations and the Arab League are in contact with the Independent Electoral Commission in Iraq to help carry out a successful election and ensure stability and security in Iraq.
