More southern commanders surrender arms

Hewad is a state-run daily published mostly in Pashto.

Five former militia commanders on February 21 surrendered more than 15 tons of ammunition and 30 light and heavy weapons to the Disarmament of Illegal Armed Groups, DIAG, programme in the south-eastern province of Paktia, United Nations officials said in Kabul. The officials said that the arms and ammunition will be transferred to the Pul-e-Charkhi central weapons collection point in Kabul for eventual use by Afghan security forces.
