At a briefing held recently in Kabul, Minister of Communication Amirzai Sangeen told newsmen that his ministry had halted the operation of an Iranian communication company because it did not have a permit to work in Afghanistan. The GOS Research and Trade Company, located in Wazir Akbar Khan, was engaged in international communications services. The ministry, in collaboration with other government departments, confiscated its equipment. Under article 58 of the communications law, the company could be liable for a fine of between two and 100 million afghanis [40,000 and two million US dollars].
