The staff of Baghdad’s “Medical City” held a sit-in on June 21 to protest against the assassination of doctors and other medical personnel. Health ministry spokesman Kasim Allawi said the protest was sparked by an attack on medical staff who were driving through the Adhamiya district of Baghdad on their way to work. The protestors asked the new Iraqi government to provide adequate protection for medical staff and to stop the wave of assassinations targeting doctors.
