Brigadier General Sarhad Qadir, police chief for the Kirkuk region, told Kurdistani Nwe that a mass grave containing 18 civilians was found near the Tirkalan police station. Qadir said the mass grave was located close to a Saddam-era army base. Locals say the victims were Kurds. A special team from the Kurdish human rights ministry is expected to exhume the bodies.
