Maliki at Odds with Annan

Al-Adala is issued daily by the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has expressed criticism of the UN secretary general Kofi Annan's call for an international conference on Iraq. Maliki was also critical of Annan for describing the situation in Iraq as worse than a civil war. President Jalal Talabani condemned the secretary-general's call, saying Iraq is independent with a government and parliament that have the ability to decide the future of the country.
