Kirkuk on the Agenda Again

Al-Sabah al-Jadeed is an independent daily newspaper.

President Jalal Talabani, in a meeting with the special envoy of the United Nations Ashraf Kadhi, said that Kirkuk was a local issue and should be resolved in accordance with article 140 of the Iraqi constitution. He called on all political factions to promote coexistence and reconciliantion among residents of the city, urging Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians, and Turkmen to live peacefully there. Talabani and Kadhi discussed a number of political issues and the UN's role in the country.
