Karzai to visit Pakistan

The Kabul Times is a state-run paper published in English every other day.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry has announced that Afghan president Hamed Karzai is to visit the country on February 16. A statement released by the ministry on February 1 said Karzai would be visiting Pakistan at the invitation of his counterpart Pervez Musharraf. “This will be the first visit by President Karzai since the completion of the Bonn process and the announcement of the new five-year reconstruction plan for Afghanistan,” said the statement, quoting Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri. The press attaché at Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul, Naem Khan, confirmed that the visit would take place, saying a formal announcement would be made in a few days.
