Journalists advised to use legal hotlines

Journalists covering elections have been reminded to make use of legal hotlines in six media centers across the country to report attacks on them.

Coordinator of the media centers, Akin Akingbulu, said the call has become necessary in view of post-election violence in parts of the country.

The Centers and their hotlines are Lagos, 08033064918; Abuja, 08122039820; Kaduna, 08023557142; Owerri, 08033582275; Gombe, 08026946151 and Port-Harcourt, 07093461218.

Mr. Akingbulu said the legal hotlines are managed by Lawyers who are trained to assist journalists in difficult situations. They also equipped with Internet and monitoring facilities for use by journalists.

Mr. Akingbulu said the Centers were established with funding from the Democratic Governance for Development (DGD) project of the UNDP.
