Prime Minister [designate] Ibrahim al-Jafari has expressed confidence that the process of forming a new government will speed up. All problems can be resolved by a combination of the mechanisms of the United Iraqi Alliance, UIA, public confidence, and dialogue, he said. Jafari said the Iraqi people are the only body that will dictate the direction of his approach to the political process. He insisted there was mutual understanding between the UIA and the Kurdistan Alliance. Speaking of past displacements of communities in Iraq, he said it was the government’s responsibility to protect them and return them to their places of origin. In addition, the prime minister noted that Turkey had agreed to increase the amount of water it supplies to Iraq.
