Al-Sabah al-Jadeed is an independent daily paper.

In his first interview with al-Sabah after being nominated prime minister, Ibrahim al-Ja'afari said he has many commitments to the heroic Iraqi people. He evaluated the big responsibilities Iraqis have put before him and hoped he would be able to deal with them as best as he could. He emphasized that he would stand with the United Iraqi Alliance. He said he would respect the choices of the slate that concur with the choices of the Iraqi people. Ja'afari praised the transparency inside the alliance in leading the democratic process of the prime minister's nomination.
