Interior minister urges media to remain objective

Al-Sabah is a daily independent publicly owned newspaper.

Meeting Iraqi Media Network director-general Habeeb al-Sadr and staff of the al-Iraqia satellite channel, Interior Minister Bayan Jabur al-Zubaidi has urged media outlets to work from realities and objective truths when disseminating information, avoiding exaggeration and attempts to ignite sectarian conflict, which could lead to schism in Iraq. Al-Zubaidi praised the efforts made by al-Iraqia to air the truth and strengthen viewers’ trust in the TV station. He also noted that his ministry has called in international experts to assist in the investigation of the bombing of the two shrines in Samarra. Special units from the interior and defence ministries are going to protect the holy shrines, and mosques all over Iraq, he said.
