The authorities deported 47 foreign prostitutes on February 22. The women had been working in guesthouses and restaurants in Kabul. A legal adviser to the interior ministry, Abdul Jabar Sabet, said his agency had closed down 20 guesthouses and restaurants over the past year because they were providing immoral services. The adviser added that more than 150 bottles of wine and beer were seized from these establishments. The deportations come after the government expelled five foreign prostitutes two months ago.
