Ex-PUK Members to Sue Baath “Spies”

Awene is a Sulaimaniyah-based independent newspaper issued weekly by Awene Company.

Two former politburo members of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Omar Abdullah Maruf (also known as Mulazim Omar) and Qadir Haji Ali, have pledged to mount legal actions against Saddam Hussein-era agents whose names have been published as having spied on them. The surveillance relates to the period after 1991, when Kurdish political parties announced an amnesty for agents linked to the Baath regime.
