Elections Deepen Democracy

Al-Taakhi is issued daily by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

Iraqi president Jalal al-Talabani said the upcoming elections will decide the future for all Iraqis and will deepen democracy in the country. He emphasized the importance of democracy and its role in building the new Iraq. Talabani praised the pioneering role of Kurdish workers and their liberal movements for pushing for workers' rights. As for the abduction of the German archaeologist, he said Iraqi has no information about which organisation abducted her. He said he hoped they would keep her safe and not kill her.
