Editorial: Reconstruction and destruction

We have been listening to news about the reconstruction of Iraq, which is still being destroyed by the ongoing American war, for a couple of years now. But is this reconstruction being taken seriously? Towns are being destroyed on a daily basis, while sectarian gangs roam freely before the eyes of the security forces. We need to know who is responsible for reconstruction. There is no evidence that reconstruction is moving in the right direction. International support is dwindling because corruption is widespread. Partnership with the UN can't transcend failed projects that we once had hope in. Meanwhile, the country is moving backward into further turmoil.
