Afghan President Hamed Karzai in his speech on the occasion of the 14th victory anniversary day of Mujahedin once again called on the Taleban to give up militancy and join the peace process. The president made this offer amid increasing insurgency, suicide attacks, when the Taleban are burning down schools and beheaded an Indian engineer. On the other hand, according to reliable sources, the Afghan government and the US embassy in Kabul are trying to give more incentive to Taleban leaders through negotiations. The deal, according to the sources, includes deleting the names of 100 Taleban terrorists from a black list. Any deal with the Taleban is against the people’s will and would be rejected. No doubt any deal with the Taleban terrorists would serve no national interest except spreading violence in the country. Now, the question is why the president, who was elected by the people and the United States, which advocates peace and stability throughout the world, has chosen to deal once again with people who have proven they cannot be trusted. The people of Afghanistan are surfacing from continuous upheaval. They have to be more careful not to be sacrificed in other people’s interests.
