Doctors Fleeing Mosul

Al-Bayyna is a weekly paper issued by the Hezbollah movement in Iraq.

Dozens of doctors have fled Mosul after receiving threatening letters. The letters were sent shortly after three university professors were gunned down and students demonstrated against the killings. The head of the doctors' union in Mosul, Mohmood al-Haj Kasim, said doctors were being targeted as part of a larger campaign targeting scientific professionals in Mosul. Mosul governor Duraid Kashmoola said a terrorist network that kidnapped doctors for ransom had been arrested. He said the head of the network worked in hospital security. Nine doctors have been killed and many others fled Mosul since the fall of the former regime.
