District chief killed in Helmand

Islah is a state-run daily published mostly in Dari.

Unidentified gunmen shot and killed the chief of Baghran district in the southern province of Helmand on April 15, officials said. A spokesman for the provincial governor said that district chief Abdul Majid and one of his bodyguards were killed while they were travelling to the Musa Kala district. Two other bodyguards were injured, and two more were abducted by their attackers, the official said.
