District chief gunned down in Helmand

Hewad is a state-run daily published mostly in Pashto.

Unidentified gunmen shot and killed the administrative head of the Sangin district in the Helmand province late on March 3. The police chief of Sangin district said Mira Jaan was killed by two armed motorcyclists in the Musa Kala district of the province while on his way home. The attack came the same day as government killed eight Taleban insurgents and arrested five others following a clash in the Sangin district.
