Cabinet Changes Likely

Al-Sabah al-Jadeed is an independent daily paper.

Sources close to negotiations over who will be named to lead the ministers of interior and defence predicted that prime minister Nuri al-Maliki will replace six of the ministers in his new cabinet. The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Maliki might make the changes (in part) to include the National Dialogue Front, headed by Saleh al-Mutlaq. (Mutlaq led a walkout of Sunni Arab leaders when the cabinet was announced on May 20.) The sources maintained that the new ministers were chose hastily and some were assigned to ministries even though they have no expertise for the posts.
