Afghan National Army soldiers have seized a quantity of arms in two separate clean-up operations in the southern provinces of Kandahar and Uruzgan, according to the Afghan defence ministry. Defence ministry spokesman General Zahir Azimi said that the army on March 5 launched an operation in the Panjwayee district of Kandahar, seizing six light weapons and detaining a suspected militant. The spokesman added that the Afghan soldiers captured nine pieces of various weaponry on the same day in the Shinkai district of Uruzgan.
