Archives Provide Evidence of Afghan War Crimes

Friday, 24 February, 2012

Thirty years of war have left Afghanistan with more than a million dead and many more disabled. Three million people have fled their homes in the decades of fighting.

Since the fall of the Taleban in 2001, a growing number of Afghans have been calling for war criminals to be brought to justice. Human rights groups have gathered a growing amount of evidence which could be used if trials are ever held.

Reporter Humayun Hadid visits a museum in Herat to see what kind of evidence has been collected so far.

This radio report, in Dari, was produced under IWPR’s Afghan Witness Project, designed to promote transitional justice.
