American Forces Raid Sadr Office

Al-Bayan is issued four times weekly by prime minister Nuri al-Maliki's Islamic Dawa Party.

Demonstrations were held in several Baghdad neighbourhoods to protest the (alleged US-led) raid on Hai al-Amel's Sadr office. The demonstrators raised banners denouncing the raid. They called on US and Iraqi security forces to officially apologise for conducting the raid and damaging the inside of the office. According to one of the demonstrators, the raid was conducted because the office was suspected of serving as a secret detention centre. Another demonstrator said the office helped the poor and provided services in the area.
