Afghan Women Tell of Harsh Conditions Back Home

By IWPR
Female Afghans interviewed for this report said women had few rights in households back home, and they knew personally of girls who had been married off against their will to much older men. This often leads unhappy wives to commit suicide.

In theory, Afghanistan has legislation protecting women’s rights but the refugees interviewed for the report say this is honoured more in the breach.
