A 16-year-old Afghan prisoner escaped from a jail in Karachi on February 26, a Pakistani official said. Ajaz Haidar Shah, governor of Karachi’s central prison, said Abdul Khaliq, from the southern Afghan province of Helmand, escaped through the main gate of the jail. He added that Abdul Khaliq, who was arrested six months ago on charges of stealing a car, broke out while cleaning one of the prison offices. The official added that three prison guards have been sacked in connection with the incident.
