Ukraine: 16 Buildings Occupied Across Donetsk Region

The regional administration, eight mayor’s offices, four town police stations and three Security Service branches are currently held by the terrorists [pro-Moscow insurgents] in Donetsk region, the Ukrainian interior ministry’s press department has told Espreso TV.

Armed groups occupy the police and Security Service buildings in Slovyansk [Slavyansk], Kramatorsk and Horlivka.

“On April 30, an armed group seized the Horlivka Central District police station. Persons unknown burst into the building, ejected the staff inside and barricaded themselves in. The details are being clarified,” the ministry said.

The Donetsk regional administration remains under occupation. “The protesters have erected barricades around the building. There are armed men in camouflage inside the Donetsk municipal government building. Persons unknown are manning checkpoints on every floor of the building, but the city administration is not being stopped from functioning,” the police say.

The municipal administrations in Kramatorsk, Horlivka, Yenakiieve, Kostiantynivka [Konstantinovka], Mariupol and Makiivka are also functioning, albeit under constant scrutiny from the protesters.

In addition, there are more than 20 checkpoints on roads around Donetsk region, mostly concentrated in Slovyansk, Kramatorsk and Makiivka.
